The Hidden Layer

According to the oldest oral traditions—whispered only by certain shamans in remote parts of Java and Bali—the cosmos is not composed of the three standard layers (upper world of the gods, middle world of humans, and lower underworld of demons). There is a fourth realm, sandwiched between the human world and the underworld.

This realm was not always sealed. In the primordial age, it served as the “crucible” where raw spiritual energy (mana) from the earth’s core was refined before circulating to the surface. It was also the first home of the hybrid beings—half-god, half-demon—who predated both the current pantheon and humanity.

The Great Erasure

The erasure was an act of cosmic censorship. The official narrative, propagated by the priesthood of shiva and later adapted by Buddhism in Indonesia, reduced cosmology to three clean layers. The Fourth Realm was deemed “unclean” and “incompatible” with the orderly universe the gods wished to project.

Why was it sealed?

  • The Fourth Realm was where the original rebellion against the gods was incubated.
  • It is the place where the Mana Curse was first forged.
  • It contains the “true names” of the volcanoes—names that predate Batara Guru’s dominion.

Geography of the Forgotten Realm

The Fourth Realm has no fixed “ground.” It is a labyrinth of:

  • Crystal corridors that run parallel to the Malacca Strait and Java Trench.
  • Sunken cities that predate Srivijaya, built from a black stone that does not exist on the surface.
  • The Mirror Sea—a subterranean ocean that reflects not the sky, but the future.

Access points are believed to exist in the calderas of certain volcanoes: merapi, agung, and the submerged crater of Krakatoa. These points open only during specific conjunctions—often coinciding with the final days of the 210-day contract.

Implications for the Present

If the seal were to break:

  1. The “purified” mana currently flowing to the surface would become “raw” and toxic to ordinary humans.
  2. The hybrid beings of the Fourth Realm would re-emerge, challenging both the gods and humanity.
  3. The timeline of the future timeline—particularly the “Post-Metallic” era—would accelerate dramatically.
