Amangkurat II

Amangkurat II (c. 1650–1703) was the fifth sultan of the Mataram Sultanate, reigning from 1677 to 1703. He survived the Trunajaya Rebellion and reclaimed his throne with the military support of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). In return, he ceded vast territories and sovereignty, making Mataram a vassal state and accelerating Dutch colonial control over Java.
