Silewe Nazarata is a forest spirit of the Nias people — a bat-like guardian that protects the sacred forests, carrying the souls of the ancestors and punishing those who desecrate the land. It is a creature of the boundary between the visible and invisible worlds, a guardian of the the-forth-realm’s threshold.
The name is derived from words meaning “night” and “to watch” — a nocturnal guardian. It is believed to be the carrier of ancestral souls, guiding them between the three-realms. Those who enter the forest with ill intent are led astray by its cries, never to return. The spirit’s power is tied to the flow of mana; when the mana-curse weakens the land, the spirit grows restless.

Silewe Nazarata adalah roh hutan masyarakat Nias — penjaga seperti kelelawar yang melindungi hutan sakral, membawa jiwa leluhur dan menghukum mereka yang menodai tanah. Ia adalah makhluk dari batas antara dunia yang terlihat dan tak terlihat, penjaga ambang Alam Keempat.
Nama ini berasal dari kata yang berarti “malam” dan “menjaga” — penjaga malam. Ia diyakini sebagai pembawa jiwa leluhur, membimbing mereka di antara tiga alam. Mereka yang masuk ke hutan dengan niat jahat akan tersesat oleh teriakannya, tidak pernah kembali.
