The Linggadjati Agreement was a diplomatic agreement signed on 25 March 1947 between the Republic of Indonesia and the Netherlands. In this agreement, the Dutch recognized Indonesian sovereignty over Java, Sumatra, and Madura — the first formal recognition of Indonesian independence, though it was soon broken by Dutch military action, leading to the continuation of the Indonesian National Revolution.
