The Saint of Cirebon
Sunan Gunung Jati was one of the Wali Songo (Nine Saints), the Islamic missionaries who spread Islam in Java during the 15th–16th centuries. He was the founder of the Cirebon Sultanate, a charismatic religious and political leader who used culture and diplomacy to spread Islam, and whose legacy is still visible in the Islamic traditions of West Java.
