Geography
West Java is dominated by volcanic peaks, including Mount Tangkuban Perahu, Mount Gede, and Mount Pangrango. The province’s highlands are cooler and more fertile, supporting extensive tea and rice cultivation.
History
West Java was home to ancient kingdoms, including Tarumanegara (c. 4th century) and the Sunda Kingdom (Pajajaran). The region later became part of the Mataram Sultanate and then a center of Dutch colonial administration.
