Culture and Arts
Sundanese culture is renowned for its refined and gentle character:

- Kopi Jempol – Sundanese-style coffee
Social Character
Sundanese society is known for its gentleness and politeness. The people of West Java are often described as halus (refined) and teu gopal (not easily provoked). This character is reflected in their preference for conflict resolution through conversation and mutual understanding.
Historical Role
While the Javanese built the great empires to the east, the Sundanese were the dominant group of West Java, with their own kingdoms such as the Sunda Kingdom and the Galuh Kingdom. The region later became a center of Islamic learning and trade under the Cirebon Sultanate.
