Kesultanan Banten

English (EN)

The Banten Sultanate was a powerful 16th–17th century Islamic kingdom on the north coast of West Java. It was a major center of the pepper trade, Islamic scholarship, and political power that rivaled the Dutch in Batavia. Its sultans built one of the archipelago’s greatest ports, and its Great Mosque still stands as a testament to their cultural and spiritual legacy.
