Airlangga (c. 990–1049) was the 11th-century king of the Kahuripan Kingdom in East Java. He reunified the region after the fall of the Mataram Kingdom and ruled for over thirty years, marking a golden age of Javanese literature and temple-building. He is the first Javanese king to be deified in the form of the Hindu god Vishnu, and his reign is remembered as a period of peace, justice, and cultural flourishing.
