The Pandawa in the Mahabharata

The Pandawa were the sons of King Pandu. They were the rightful heirs to the throne of Hastinapura, but their cousins, the Kurawa, usurped the throne. The Pandawa were exiled for 13 years, and upon their return, they fought the great war of Kurukshetra, ultimately emerging victorious.

The Pandawa in Wayang

In Javanese wayang kulit, the Pandawa are portrayed as the embodiment of dharma — righteousness, courage, and virtue. They are the central figures of the wayang repertoire, and their stories are performed in night-long wayang performances.
