The City Between Two Mountains

Magelang does not sit on the axis. It sits between the axis and the cosmic mountain. From the city, one can see both Merapi and Mount Merbabu rising on either side—two guardians of the Kedu Plain, the most sacred landscape in Java. Magelang is not a capital.
