Candi Prambanan

Prambanan is a 9th-century Hindu temple complex in Central Java, near Yogyakarta. It is the largest Hindu temple site in Indonesia and one of the largest in Southeast Asia, dedicated to the Trimurti—the three principal Hindu deities.

Architecture
The complex features three main temples surrounded by smaller shrines:
- Shiva temple: The tallest, dedicated to Shiva the Destroyer
- Brahma temple: Dedicated to Brahma the Creator
- Vishnu temple: Dedicated to Vishnu the Preserver
Reliefs
The temple is famous for its exquisite Ramayana reliefs, which narrate the story of Prince Rama and his rescue of Sita. These reliefs are among the finest examples of Javanese stone carving.
Significance
Prambanan reflects the cultural and religious brilliance of ancient Java, representing the Hindu counterpart to the Buddhist Shailendra dynasty’s Borobudur.
