Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa

Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (1631–1695) was the sixth Sultan of Banten, reigning from 1651 to 1683. He led Banten to its peak of prosperity and power, and actively resisted Dutch colonial expansion. His refusal to submit to the VOC led to conflict and his eventual deposition. He is recognized as a National Hero of Indonesia.
