Medan is the largest city on the island of sumatra and the capital of North Sumatra, Indonesia. With a population of 2.43 million, it is the fourth-largest city in Indonesia and a major economic, cultural, and transportation hub.

Medan is known for its diverse population, including Batak, Javanese, Chinese, and Indian communities. The city’s architecture reflects this diversity, with landmarks such as the Great Mosque of Medan, the Maimun Palace, and the Tjong A Fie Mansion.

Economy

As the economic center of Sumatra, Medan is a key hub for trade in palm oil, rubber, and tobacco. The city is also a gateway to Lake Toba, one of the world’s largest volcanic lakes.
