Raden Wijaya was the founder of the Majapahit Empire in 1293. A Javanese prince, he united the archipelago and established one of the greatest maritime empires in Southeast Asian history. His reign laid the foundation for the golden age of Majapahit under his successors, including Hayam Wuruk and his prime minister Gajah Mada.
