The Tidore Sultanate was a powerful sultanate in the Maluku Islands, flourishing from the 15th to the 20th centuries. Like its rival Ternate, Tidore was a major producer of cloves and other spices.
Tidore was the historical rival of the Ternate Sultanate. Their rivalry intensified with the arrival of European colonial powers in the 16th century. Tidore allied with the Spanish against Ternate and the Portuguese. The sultanate converted to Islam in the late 15th century.
Tidore maintained its independence longer than many other kingdoms in the archipelago. It was not fully subjugated by the Dutch until the 19th century.

Kesultanan Tidore adalah kesultanan yang kuat di Kepulauan Maluku, berkembang dari abad ke-15 hingga ke-20. Seperti saingannya Ternate, Tidore adalah penghasil utama cengkeh dan rempah-rempah lainnya.
