The Ships That Kept the Republic Alive
During the Indonesian National Revolution (1945-1949), the Dutch maintained a naval blockade around Java and Sumatra — an attempt to starve the Republic of arms, supplies, and international contact. Indonesian merchant ships and their crews broke that blockade.
