The Battle of Ambarawa (12–15 December 1945) was a significant engagement in Central Java between Indonesian forces and British troops[reference:29]. It is remembered as one of the first major victories of the Indonesian revolutionary forces.
Background
Following the Battle of Surabaya, British forces continued their advance into Central Java. In Ambarawa — a town south of Semarang — British troops were attempting to consolidate control over the region. The Indonesian TKR (People’s Security Army) under the command of Colonel sudirman (Commander of Division V Banyumas) organized a counterattack[reference:30].
